the city of regina is deploying an overnight warming bus that will be available to people experiencing homelessness as frigid temperatures settle in.
the bus will be located in front of carmichael outreach on the 1500 block of 12th avenue near st. johns street and will operate from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., seven nights a week starting wednesday. it will be available until a new overnight warming space at carmichael outreach is ready to use on jan. 22.
“the warming bus provides urgently needed alternative shelter to people who currently sleep outdoors and will enhance the safety and well-being of residents during cold winter nights,” said a statement released by the city on wednesday.
“the city recognizes the need for a temporary emergency shelter this winter. we continue to collaborate with the provincial and federal governments, community organizations, and other stakeholders as we work toward solutions,” said the city’s statement.
