man wanted for attempted murder following violent assault in city's west end

investigators have identified a suspect but they need help identifying him

investigators are trying to identify a man who is wanted for attempted murder as a suspect in a violent assault that occurred monday in the city’s west end.
toronto police say officers responded to a call for an assault in progress in the area of bloor st. w. and margueretta st. – just east of lansdowne ave. –  around 12:15 a.m.
it’s alleged there was an altercation between two men, one man was knocked unconscious and the other man continued to assault him despite a bystander trying to stop him and calling the police.
the assailant fled the area and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
investigators subsequently identified a suspect and have released images of the man hoping members of the public will recognize him and come forward.
the suspect is described as 26 to 32 years old, about 5-foot-10, with a medium build, slicked back black hair with the sides shaved short, and a thin black goatee.
he was wearing black rimmed glasses, a black puffy jacket with a hood, black pants, and black and white shoes.

police are also looking for the vehicle the suspect is believed to have been seen in prior to the assault, described as a 2008-2012 dark blue or black ford escape with a black roof rack and aluminum rims.
