the dark predilections of lavern travis waskahat never go away.
being declared a dangerous offender didn’t do it. years in the joint didn’t do it.
like a lot of pedophiles, the troubled 47-year-old was driven 24/7 by an addiction to child pornography featuring babies and toddlers.
lavern – who kind of identifies as a woman depending on the circumstances – made headlines in december when edmonton cops issued a public notice they were being sprung back onto the streets.
cops said: “waskahat has a history of possessing, making and publishing child pornography involving male and female infants under three years old. waskahat has been known to offend against the children while in a position of care over the child (i.e. while babysitting) and has also been known to take voyeuristic photos in public of infants.”
one day later, waskahat vanished into the ether and failed to report to a parole officer. cops found them the next day at a west edmonton motel after someone dropped a dime.
inside the room? a baby crib, diapers, scores of alleged pornographic drawings and a laptop. waskahat now faces charges of making child pornography and possession of child pornography. they remain in police custody.

now, the toronto sun has obtained a dec. 29, 2023 report from the national parole board on our heroine. they have been ordered to spend a year at a community-based facility under their five-year long-term supervision order (ltso).
the report makes for depressing reading. even the parole board seemed incapable of putting any gloss on lavern travis waskahat. there are the usual bits about no contact with kids under 16, no internet, no computer, no mobile devices, etc.
but the devil is in the details.
in his stash, he had kept hundreds of photos of babies and toddlers being violently sexually abused.
here’s waskahat again, moderating a diaper rash social media chat and other items with “highly disturbing themes.”

the file states that waskahat’s criminal career kicked off in 2011, mostly for possessing, publishing, creating and trafficking in child pornography.
“you have had previous statutory releases revoked for sexually deviant behaviour … you have also reported significant criminal behaviour that you have not been charged with,” the parole panel noted.
it was revealed that the motel where the pedophilic frequent flier was nabbed hosts many families because of its proximity to a local mall.

as per usual, the parole board said it took walkahat’s indigenous background into account when determining what to do with them. while still an infant, the accused was severely abused and neglected before being adopted into a loving home.

but since adolescence, walkahat has been driven by myriad sexual peccadillos.
“your own sexually deviant behaviour began as a child, and has continued unabated,” the panel wrote. “it is noted that there is a lack of any triggers for your sexually deviant behaviour, rather you engage in the behaviour as part of your daily life.”
even after completing a “high-intensity” program for sexual offenders, the demons deep inside lavern walkahat could not expunged even temporarily.
“you are perpetually in your ‘offense’ cycle, showing that you continue to pose a significant risk to reoffend,” the panel said, adding that walkahat was “extremely predatory” and at the apex of the “risk continuum.”
the report adds: “the psychological information on file speaks to your extensive and complex deviant sexual interests, including diaperism, infantilism, sexual sadism and pedophilia, all of which aggravate your risk to reoffend.”
low accountability, low motivation and low reintegration potential are the chasers in the parole board’s dire report.

and in her jail cell as this is written, lavern travis waskahat is no doubt dreaming of the day when they can return to the central theme of their twisted life.
