the term “cricket feet” has more than 50 million views on tiktok, according to the new york post , as sleep enthusiasts are bragging about the technique that is said to leave them feeling snug and ready for sleep.

“rubbing my feet like a cricket before going to bed,” the text in one tiktok video viewed by more than 17,000 read.
“omfg i’m so glad i’m not the only one. every night,” said one reply to the video, while another proclaimed, “it’s comforting.”
some social media users said cricketing is also a type of “stim” or “self-stimulation,” a self-soothing behaviour common among people who are neurodivergent.
experts say the technique has proven benefits, including calming the nervous system and helping your body “self-regulate.”

dr. eileen li, a chinese herbalist and a physical therapist, told bustle that the feet are “full of nerve endings and an array of acupressure points that, when stimulated, are known to help regulate and calm your central nervous system.”
