a new study published in the journal of obstetrics gynaecology canada indicates that one in eight australian women consume cannabis to alleviate or mitigate symptoms of endometriosis, a painful condition in which the layer of tissues that typically grows inside of the uterus covers the outside of it.
conducted by researchers from the nicm health research institute , western sydney university and unsw sydney , the study sought to “determine the prevalence, tolerability and self-reported effectiveness of cannabis in women with endometriosis.”

although medical cannabis restrictions may be easing down under, the same cannot be said of adult-use cannabis. although canberra legalized the drug for adult use in september, the city has faced backlash from the federal government for doing so, and legalization attempts in the country have fallen flat.
meanwhile, close neighbour new zealand is considering enacting the federal legalization of adult-use cannabis, and will hold a referendum make the decision during the upcoming 2020 election.
