singer, songwriter and 2024 u.s. presidential candidate afroman has some questions for the police. in september, the 48-year-old’s ohio property was breached by heavily armed police who reportedly had a search warrant for suspicion of narcotics, drug trafficking and kidnapping.
the musician later released security camera footage of the raid, which resulted in police confiscating a vape pen, some roaches and a jar of cbd flower, on social media. police also seized about $5,600 in cash from a suit pocket.
afroman, whose legal name is joseph foreman, has now turned the security footage into a music video for a song dubbed, “will you help me repair my door?”
“why does the warrant say narcotics? well, i know narcotics. but why kidnapping?” foreman asks in the song.
as security footage shows police rifling through his belongings, foreman raises a few more questions, including asking if there are kidnapping victims or thousands of pounds of weed inside his suit pockets.
when the police move onto another room in the house containing thousands of cds, foreman croons, “any kidnapping victims inside my cds?”
foreman was in chicago at the time of the raid and the security footage shows police breaking through his front gate and door to enter the property. officers can also be seen removing cash from the pocket of one of foreman’s suit jackets, which the rapper says was payment for a gig.

this also prompts another question from foreman. “why are you stealing my money?” he asks, adding, “you represent the law and it’s funny. you’re stealing my legal-worked-hard-everyday-paid-taxes money.”
a portion of the money was later returned, though cincinnati enquirer reports it was $400 short. the issue of the missing cash has been turned over to the ohio bureau of criminal investigation, which will oversee the probe.
according to the enquirer, although no charges were filed against foreman, some of the items that were seized from the property are still being tested for the presence of narcotics.
medical cannabis is legal in ohio and small amounts of adult-use cannabis, less than 100 grams, is a misdemeanour with a maximum penalty of a us$150 fine, per the national organization for the reform of marijuana laws.
last month, foreman announced he has set his sights on the white house in “twenty twenty fro,”
and plans to “get recreational cannabis legal in all states.”
“my fellow americans, there comes a time in the course of human events when change must be affected. that time is now. americans are suffering, and the status quo is no longer acceptable,” his campaign manager, jason savage, said in the statement posted to afroman’s instagram page.

tmz reports that while the rapper has yet to file paperwork with the federal election commission, he will be running as an independent.
the statement refers to foreman as the “cannabis commander in chief,” and notes that he is “representative of the blue state of california and the red state of mississippi.”
