bone biopsy: closed

for a closed bone biopsy, the doctor inserts a needle through the skin and directly into the bone. this is also called a needle biopsy. the biopsy needle takes a small sample of the bone. then the bone sample is looked at under a microscope for cancer, infection, or another bone disorder.
