the number of people in intensive care remained the same at 175 patients.
the province reported 1,344 new covid-19 cases, down from 1,537 saturday, as the
variant-driven third wave
continues.
the seven-day rolling average of cases climbed to 1,531 on sunday.
the death toll from the respiratory disease rose by nine to 10,802. two of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours and seven deaths happened between april 11 and 16.
montreal reported 336 new cases, down from 375 the previous day.
quebec’s three hot spots all reported fewer cases on sunday.
there were 184 cases in the capitale-nationale region, down from 205. the outaouais also had fewer new cases, going from 164 to 143.
the chaudière-appalaches region reported 139 new cases, down from 224 the previous day.
across the province, the number of outbreaks dropped by 15 to 1,110, with most of the clusters occurring in the workplace (609), followed by schools (260).
a total of 336, 952 infections have now been confirmed in the province since the pandemic was declared last march.
there were 35,308 tests taken.
