patients are being transferred from grande prairie’s queen elizabeth ii hospital due to an increase in covid-19 cases requiring acute care or icu service.
in a sunday tweet, alberta health services (ahs) confirmed that they had transferred up to nine patients out of the grande prairie qe ii hospital to neighbouring health-care centres due to an increase in covid-19 admissions requiring acute care and icu services at the facility.
“acute care patients at the qeii continue to receive the care they need. the emergency department remains open and patients continue to be assessed. patients requiring non-urgent care may be directed from the qe ii to neighbouring healthcare facilities.”
in the statement, ahs said that the queen elizabeth ii hospital remains a safe place to receive care and that there is no risk to patients coming to the hospital to receive care. patients arriving with covid-19 symptoms or that have tested positive for covid-19 are being isolated and treated in designated rooms.
