these days the music sessions are largely virtual, but the music still enriches the lives of seniors.certified music therapist miya adout and her team have been busier than ever during covid 19 at roughly 30 long-term care homes in the gta.
the company uses music — whether it be a keyboard or guitar — to help combat the isolation and feelings of anxiety of seniors.
“during the pandemic, our team has worked tirelessly to provide seniors with the quality care they need and deserve in long-term care homes across the gta,” adout said.
“despite all the loss and tragedy we’ve witnessed in these homes the past few months, we strive to be a beacon of light, hope, and healing for seniors. our experience working with seniors during this time has been fascinating, uplifting, and inspiring.”
while long-term care homes have been in lockdown during the pandemic, musical therapy is considered an essential service.
