as of monday morning, most of quebec, including montreal and surrounding regions, go from orange to yellow alert, further loosening restrictions on activity. here’s what that means:
private gatherings:
indoor gatherings are finally allowed for the first time in months, with up to two households at a time. outdoors, the limit is eight people or all occupants of two households.
houses of worship:
allowed up to 250 people, up from 100, and the attendance for marriages and funerals doubles to 50 from 25.
restaurants and bars:
all residents of two households may sit together at the same table, indoors or outdoors. an attendance register is mandatory, but reservations are not.
seniors’ residences:
where there is no outbreak, residents of one household at a time are permitted in a resident’s room, or up to five outside at a two-metre distance. dining rooms allow six people per table.
schools:
school staff may remove their masks if there are physical barriers or two-metre physical distance in place instead. at the post-secondary level, most classes are in person and students may remove their masks when seated at their desks.
sports and leisure:
outdoor and indoor activities are permitted for groups of up to 25 and 12 people, respectively. brief contact is permitted outdoors, while indoors there must be supervision and two metres between participants. team sports can play organized games, but not tournaments and spectators are not recommended. bowling, billiards and darts facilities may reopen. arcades, amusement parks and water parks may reopen.
