american podcast host joe rogan has come under fire from top white house officials after he suggested that younger people did not need to get the covid-19 vaccine.
rogan made the comments during last friday’s episode of ‘the joe rogan experience’, one of spotify’s most popular podcasts, in which he questioned whether healthy, young americans needed the vaccine.
“if you’re like 21 years old and you say to me, ‘should i get vaccinated?’ i’ll go, ‘no,’” said rogan, adding: “if you’re a healthy person and you’re exercising all the time and you’re young and you’re eating well, i don’t think you need to worry about this.”
white house communication director kate bedingfield and the nation’s top doctor anthony fauci have shot down rogan’s remarks as counterproductive and self-serving.
“i guess my first question would be, did joe rogan become a medical doctor while we weren’t looking?” white house communications director bedingfield
told cnn
on wednesday when asked about his comments. “i’m not sure that taking scientific and medical advice from joe rogan is perhaps the most productive way for people to get their information.”
in an interview with nbc today, fauci called rogan’s comments ‘incorrect’ and stressed that healthy, young people should get vaccinated, for the good of society if not just themselves.
