ontario is reporting 184 new laboratory-confirmed covid-19 cases wednesday, the lowest daily tally since sept. 9, when 170 cases were recorded before the pandemic’s second and third waves hit the province.
there were 14 deaths reported in the province. there have now been 544,897 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 9,168 deaths. another 322 cases were resolved in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases considered resolved 533,472 are now considered resolved.
ontario conducted 27,258 tests yesterday with a 1.0 per cent positivity rate, another key indicator that has been in steady decline.
ontario’s hospitalization rates are not declining at a similar pace however.
there are 251 patients in hospital and another 271 in intensive care, with 181 who require a ventilator.
those figures have remained relatively constant this week while other indicators show signs the pandemic is receding.
ontario administered 268,397 vaccine doses on tuesday, which is about 3,000 more doses than had been administered the previous day.
there have now been 14,741,138 vaccine doses administered in ontario, and 4,808,170 are now fully immunized with both doses.
