ontario reported 324 new covid-19 cases on wednesday, and three new deaths.
toronto, with 72 new cases, hamilton, with 41, and york and peel, with 31 and 30, respectively, were the province’s worst-hit regions.
there were 13 new confirmed cases in ottawa, according to public health ontario, bringing the city’s total to 27,889 since the pandemic’s start. due to different data-collection times, those figures may not match those issued later in the day by ottawa public health.
in other health units in the region, the eastern ontario health unit saw its confirmed case numbers go up by four, while kingston’s increased by one.
leeds, grenville and lanark and renfrew county each reported no new cases.
the new figures raise ontario’s total number of covid cases since january 2020 to 553,449 and its death toll to 9,412. there are 12,023 active cases in the province.

of the most recently reported hospitalizations, only six patients had been fully vaccinated, elliott said.
additionally, 48,307 vaccine doses were administered in the province in the 24-hour period ending tuesday evening, for a provincewide total of 19,998,744. a total of 9,418,632 ontarians have been fully vaccinated, an increase of 37,510 over the previous day’s total.

ottawa’s neighbourhood vaccine hubs are now open to all residents 12 years and older, for both first and second vaccines.
the vaccination hubs, intended to help reduce barriers for residents who have not yet received the vaccine, are located in four high-priority neighbourhoods, with more scheduled to launch this week, and additional sites to open in the coming weeks.
the vaccine hubs currently open are:
  • ama community centre, 1216 hunt club rd., mon.-thurs., 1 to 7 p.m.
  • heatherington family centre, 1495 heatherington rd., daily, 1 to 7 p.m.
  • bayshore community building, 175 woodbridge cr., daily, 1 to 7 p.m.
  • foster farm community centre, 1065 ramsey cr., mon. to fri., 5 to 7 p.m., weekends, 1 to 7 p.m.
