ontario is reporting 865 new laboratory-confirmed covid-19 cases thursday, with 173 of those cases in people who have been fully vaccinated, and 692 cases in people who are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
there were 14 deaths reported in the province, though nine of those deaths occurred more than two months ago and were added thursday in a “data cleaning.”
there were 13 deaths reported wednesday, with six of those also occurring months ago and added as part of the data cleaning.
there are 320 patients in ontario hospitals, with 28 people who are fully vaccinated, and 292 who are unvaccinated our partially vaccinated. there are another 162 patients in intensive care, with 14 people who are fully vaccinated and 148 people who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
there are 39 new cases in ottawa, according to provincial data. ottawa public health reports updated data each afternoon.
there is a concerning spike in new cases in surrounding regions as well, with 24 new cases reported in the eastern ontario public health unit, which includes cornwall and alexandria. there were four new cases in that region a day ago.
there are six new cases in hastings, three in kingston and one in leeds, grenville and lanark.
