food and beverage will be permitted at shows only in regions that are at an orange or yellow alert level.
festivals and other events offering outdoor shows where spectators are standing, sitting or without an assigned place will be permitted across the province starting on june 25.
reservations will be required for anyone who wants to attend even a free show, and on-line booking is encouraged, proulx said.
attendance at these events will also be capped at 2,500 per stage or performance site so long as these are 500 metres apart and offer separate passageways for people to circulate.
so an event like the montreal international jazz festival, with stages on different streets, could host 2,500 spectators at the same time at different stages, proulx said.
each outdoor site will have to be divided by physical barriers into sections that can each allow up to 250 spectators.
the caps exclude festival workers and volunteers. festivals will have to have attendants for every 125 spectators. food and drink concessions will be allowed to open, but festival organizers will be expected to arrange them in a way to minimize crowds.
two metres of physical distancing will be required for anyone not from the same address, proulx said, adding that organizers can mark spots on the ground where spectators can stand two metres apart. as well, spectators will be required to wear masks so long as the alert level requires it.
