quebec will gradually open up
covid-19
vaccination registration to the rest of the adult population as of friday, quebec health minister christan dubé announced on thursday.
the last phase of quebec’s vaccination campaign is expected to quickly move through age groups, starting with people between the ages of 50 and 59, and will work by appointment.
the province says the goal is to have registration open to all who want the vaccine by may 14.
registration will open for different age groups three times a week starting friday. here is the schedule the government intends to follow:
- april 30 for people ages 50 to 59
- may 3 for people ages 45 to 49
- may 5 for people ages 40 to 44
- may 7 for people ages 35 to 39
- may 10 for people ages 30 to 34
- may 12 for people ages 25 to 29
- may 14 for people ages 18 to 24
“i think we’ve all been waiting for this day for a long time,” dubé said during a news conference in quebec city on thursday. “it’s a big day for quebec.”
dubé said he remains confident quebec has the infrastructure in place to allow every quebecer who wants the vaccine to receive their first dose by june 24.
the province has so far administered more than 3 million vaccine doses, including some 66,000 second doses, and says it is on track to give every long-term care resident their second dose by may 8.
