he and davidson acknowledged that any division’s plan is likely to get disapproval from some parents — either those who reject the use of masks entirely or those who feel not enough is being done to prevent transmission of the virus.
“we do know that whatever measures we put in place have been met with approval and criticism from various sides,” skjerven said.
“this hasn’t been easy for anyone, especially our school staff. we need to acknowledge and appreciate that.”
education minister dustin duncan was not available for an interview on monday.
speaking on cbc radio, duncan pointed to other measures like in-school vaccination clinics and said the sha would be prepared to do contact tracing.
there is no provincial requirement for people who have tested positive for covid-19 to quarantine in saskatchewan.
“i think kids will be safe based on what we know … we need to learn to live with covid-19. vaccines are the best tool, but there are other tools that remain,” duncan said.
the province’s strategy is “absolute madness,” ndp leader ryan meili said.
“listening to the education minister this morning was just a surreal experience. this is a government that’s on the air telling people that they have no plan, and worse that they have deliberately ignored the plan put forward by medical experts within the saskatchewan health authority.”
