the province’s top public health doctors recommended last week that the provincial government follow other provinces in mandating vaccination for indoor public spaces and reintroducing indoor masking mandates. premier scott moe rejected both steps on monday, saying it’s up to individual businesses to decide.
“when we don’t see it being acknowledged by our government officials, when the resources aren’t being offered, we start to feel abandoned,” olszynski said.
he and stempien urged people to mask of their own accord and advised patients to seek care in the community before going to an emergency room if their condition is not serious.
maschak said her mother deteriorated over the course of her long stay. she threw responsibility for the ordeal at the feet of people rejecting vaccination, and also the provincial government.
“it’s like they’re playing chicken with the business communities and the municipalities,” maschak said.
people who oppose vaccination might change their minds if they visited the emergency room, she added.
