she added, however, she is worried many who wanted to get immunized might have become frustrated and given up.
chris bourdeau, a spokesperson for alberta health, said there is an ample supply of vaccines in alberta. he said pharmacies are responsible for managing their appointment schedule and they are encouraged to have enough supply for everyone. pharmacies are able to order doses each week to keep up with demand.
“albertans are reminded that there are more than 1,400 pharmacies offering vaccine as well as alberta health services (ahs) clinics and some physician clinics,” said bourdeau in an email friday. “if an individual pharmacy does not have an appointment when they would like to go, they can visit alberta.ca/vaccine for additional options.”
steve buick, press secretary for health minister tyler shandro, said there is no issue with vaccine supply. however, with more than 1,000 pharmacies offering doses in the province, he said there will be some logistical issues at individual locations.
provincial data posted online shows alberta has received 6.7 million doses of covid-19 vaccines and has administered 5.6 million. the province has seen a slight uptick in the number of doses injected this week after premier jason kenney announced people who get a first or second jab before oct. 14 will be eligible to receive a $100 preloaded debit card.
