“(tbs officials) have confirmed that telework is not an accommodation measure for workers not vaccinated. it is expected that, when an employee works from home, they are in their workplace. so mandatory vaccination will apply to teleworkers as well,” aubry wrote on reddit last week.
“one improvement made based on pressure from bargaining agents is that the policy will apply to everybody, students, terms, indeterminate employees, but also contractors coming into the buildings,” aubry added.
aubry did not respond to a request for comment on thursday.
national post asked tbs on thursday to deny or correct any of the above information, including that it was learning towards asking for an attestation of vaccination instead of proof.
it did not, instead nothing that “officials have been working on plans to implement the requirement for vaccination across the federal public service.”
“the outcomes of this work are subject to final approval by the government,” tbs public affairs chief geneviève sicard replied in an email. “as announced on september 28 by the prime minister, details will be communicated in the days and weeks to come.”
the department, which acts as the federal public service’s employer, originally released a first policy intention on mandatory vaccination for its employees on august 13. but that plan has since changed significantly, aubry wrote on social media.
