the windsor-essex county health unit on tuesday reported 44 new cases of covid-19. of those, 10 are close contacts of confirmed cases, six are community acquired, and two are travel related. the transmission sources for the remaining 26 cases are still under investigation.
there are 287 active cases in the region, including 84 variant of concern cases.
to date, 17,324 local residents have tested positive. of those, 16,600 cases are considered resolved and 437 people have died.
windsor regional hospital currently has seven covid patients, four of which are unvaccinated.
three workplaces have active covid outbreaks: two food and beverage businesses in windsor and one manufacturing facility in tecumseh.
variant of concern cases number 2,212 and have not risen since monday.
