radiologic technologist

radiologic technologists perform imaging tests such as x-rays, computed tomography (ct) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (mri). they are also called radiographers. they work under the direction of a radiologist, who interprets the images to diagnose illness.

in order to become certified as a radiologic technologist, a person must complete an accredited education program and pass the canadian association of medical radiation technologists (camrt) exam. specialized certifications are required for mri, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy. provincial requirements for licensing vary.
