when kanye west and wife bianca censori showed up on the red carpet at sunday night’s grammy awards, onlookers were probably expecting something shocking.
censori has become notorious for showing up to events wearing next to nothing so when she dropped her fur coat to reveal a see-through dress, perhaps the only difference was how big a stage the grammys is compared to other places where she shows up scantily clad.
but given that the japanese are known for modesty, it should come as no surprise that west’s concert deal in the asian nation is at risk.
the 47-year-old rapper had signed a deal to perform two times at the tokyo dome in may, but after censori’s nakedness on music’s biggest night, the people financing the gigs are reconsidering, the daily mail reported.
“the investors in japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this,” a source told the publication, saying the so-called stunt “has been greeted with horror in japan.”
the insider added: “it is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows.”
the source noted that japan is experiencing “a cultural awakening about women’s rights,” noting that “what he did is being seen as an act of coercive control, which is utterly unacceptable,” and calling the incident “creepy beyond belief.”

on sunday night, west and censori, a 30-year-old architecture graduate, walked the red carpet where she dropped her fur coat in front of a sea of cameras to reveal a sheer mini-dress with nothing underneath.

west, meanwhile, stood stone-faced wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and dark sunglasses.
the rapper was seen telling his wife to “make a scene,” according to a lip reader, telling censori, “i’ll say it’ll make so much sense.”
he instructed his wife, who was facing the wall, to remove her fur coat, “and then turn,” adding, “i got you.”
censori appeared to reply, “alright, let’s go.”
the couple reportedly didn’t even attend the show; they simply used the red carpet for the stunt, then left in a waiting car.

the mail’s source said that west “has completely culturally misjudged japan” and “has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the japanese people toward these activities.”
they continued: “he’s just not welcome anymore,” adding that “kanye is just f***ing up every opportunity that comes to him.”
censori graduated from university in her native melbourne, and ran a jewelry-design business before being hired as an architectural designer at yeezy.
west and censori were married in 2022, two years after ye and kim kardashian finalized their divorce.
