montreal police are investigating two suspicious car fires overnight saturday to sunday, an incendiary device tossed into a business in plateau mont-royal and at least one projectile impact found in the front window of a bar in lasalle.
at about 12:45 a.m., a fire caused major damage to an suv parked in a driveway on small st. near st-louis st. in the borough of st-laurent. no incendiary object was found, but there is reason to believe
arson
was involved, said montreal police spokesperson jean-pierre brabant, and the case was transferred to the arson squad.
then at about 4:45 a.m., there was a fire in an suv parked near the entrance to a private residence on elm ave., near holton ave., in westmount. for now, no incendiary object has been found, but the vehicle was a total loss, brabant said, and the case has been transferred to the arson squad to determine the circumstances of the event. there was no damage to the property.
at about 3:30 a.m. sunday, an incendiary object was thrown into the entrance of a business on st-andré st. and roy st. in plateau mont-royal. no one was injured and there was only minor damage to the door, brabant said. the case was transferred to the arson squad and investigators were onsite sunday morning.
