burnaby victim of home invasion identified as 19-year-old

ryan nagy died of his injuries after a home invasion in the 7600-block of 17th avenue

homicide investigators have identified the man who died in an early-morning confrontation in a home in burnaby.
ryan nagy, 19, succumbed to his injuries at a home in the 7600-block of 17th avenue, near canada way, on thursday, said the integrated homicide investigation team.
“we believe this is a targeted incident,” said ihit spokesman sgt. timothy pierotti in a news release on friday. “we’re asking that anyone who had recent contact with mr. nagy, to contact ihit immediately, as we build a timeline of events leading up to this tragedy.”

burnaby rcmp received a report of an incident at the home at 7:05 a.m. on thursday.

officers found a man — now identified as nagy — suffering from life-threatening injuries. despite help from paramedics and first responders, nagy died at the scene.
a second victim, a woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
police did not say how nagy died but said the attack appeared to have been targeted. police had characterized the incident as a home invasion.
ihit is asking anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who was in the 7600-block of 17 avenue between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on june 29, to contact its information line at 1-877-551-4448.
