torontonians will be craning their necks to watch pyrotechnics light up the night sky as the country celebrates its 157th birthday monday.
there is a long list of events being held across the city and gta for canada day, culminating with a 14-minute fireworks display at ashbridges bay park at lakeshore blvd. e. and woodbine ave. starting at 10 p.m.
the city will also set fireworks off at centennial park in etobicoke, milliken park in scarborough and stan wadlow park in east york, all starting at 10 p.m. as well.
other canada day programming in the city includes amesbury park in north york hosting a flea market, bouncy castles, food trucks, live music and fireworks from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
at thomson memorial park in scarborough, family-friendly activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a free pancake breakfast, live music, performances, art activities and craft vendors.
if you feel the need to set off fireworks yourself, there is no permit needed in the city on canada day. however, fireworks must end by 11 p.m.
celebrations and fireworks will also be held throughout the gta, including mississauga, brampton, vaughan, richmond hill, markham, pickering, ajax, whitby and oshawa.

at canada’s wonderland, the amusement park’s pyrotechnics plan promises a total of 6,000 explosions from 11 separate firing positions reaching heights of more than 250 metres while being choreographed to music.

toronto ribfest continues monday at centennial park with tasty food and live music from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

downey’s farm market in caledon will celebrate the holiday with a strawberry festival and pancake breakfast.
some attractions will be open on monday, including the toronto zoo, ripley’s aquarium, royal ontario museum, hockey hall of fame and the cn tower.
parks canada will be offering free admission to rouge national urban park in scarborough to celebrate canada day.
for those itching to do some shopping, the toronto eaton centre, markville shopping centre, pacific mall, square one shopping centre and toronto premium outlets will have holiday hours.
shops and eateries in the distillery district will be open with free live music and big screen sports viewing being featured.
banks, government offices and libraries will be closed, and there will be no mail delivery or postal services.
the lcbo will be closed while some beer stores and all wine racks will open their doors for the holiday.

some grocery stores will be open as well, along with some shopper’s drug mart and rexall pharmacies.
the ttc’s buses, streetcars and subways will all run on a holiday schedule while go transit will use its saturday schedule. up express will operate on its weekend schedule.
