walk/run fundraiser to benefit juvenile arthritis

the team cassie + friends second annual run/walk for juvenile arthritis, organized by a local mother/daughter duo, is slated for oct. 16.
devyn nichols, an amherstburg teenager living with the chronic rheumatic disease, and mom jennifer nichols, a member on the national board of directors for cassie + friends, a charity focused on juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases, hope to raise both awareness and research funds.
“team cassie + friends is a rewarding opportunity to meet other families impacted by rheumatic disease, educate others at school, on sports teams or at work, give back to a community that needs more support and resources and get active,” jennifer said.

jennifer said the 2021 run/walk proceeds helped to fund an equipment cupboard and family support fund with grocery and gas cards and other items, for families affected by juvenile arthritis in windsor and surrounding areas.

it also funded a $15,000 research grant to dr. roberta berard, head of pediatric rheumatology at the children’s hospital, london health sciences centre.
