the number of covid-related fatalities held steady on friday for the first time in nearly a month.
the windsor-essex county health unit reported zero new covid deaths, which last happened on jan. 13. in the time since, 66 people have lost their lives to the disease.
to date, 572 local residents have died as a result of covid-19.
area hospital have 66 covid-positive patients, including nine in intensive care.
outbreaks remain active at 47 locations: 16 long-term care and retirement homes, six hospital units, 18 community settings, and seven workplaces.
