the windsor essex community health centre and partner organizations will be offering hepatitis c testing during world hepatitis day on friday. as part of a hepatitis c, addictions and sexual health fair, the team will provide hepatitis c testing and treatment, screening for sexually transmitted infections, addiction support, harm reduction supplies, and naloxone.
the fair will take place on july 28 at h4, the former water world building at 400 wyandotte st. w. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“our goal is to make health care accessible to all individuals in our community to provide the care they deserve,” the community health centre said. “our team challenges the stigma around hepatitis c by providing education, awareness, and treatment to the community, specifically those in need.”
representatives on site will be from the community health centre, erie shores healthcare, hotel-dieu grace healthcare, pozitive pathways, the windsor-essex county health unit, and windsor regional hospital.
the hepatitis c virus is contracted through the spread of contaminated blood and causes inflammation of the liver.
