quebec is in a seventh wave of the covid-19 pandemic, but the situation remains “under control,” public health director dr. luc boileau and health minister christian dubé said thursday.
at an early-morning news conference in montreal, boileau said he’s waiting for official confirmation of the seventh wave from quebec’s public health institute, but that he believes it has begun, given the recent uptick in cases , hospitalizations and deaths fuelled by newer variants ba.4 and ba.5.
according to the province’s wastewater data , the presence of covid-19 has been increasing since early june in quebec city and mid-june in montreal, laval and gatineau.
