there are now 236 cases in the province, up from 202 cases as of june 28.

quebec reported 34 more cases of monkeypox in its latest update, as vaccination numbers continue to climb.
as of july 2, 236 cases have been diagnosed in the province, the health ministry said tuesday in a statement. that’s up from 202 cases as of june 28.
since may 27, 8,940 doses of the imvamune smallpox vaccine have been administered in the province. that compares with 7,568 as of june 28.
according to recommendations from quebec’s immunization committee, high-risk contacts of confirmed or probable monkeypox cases may be vaccinated with a single dose within four days of exposure. a second dose can be administered only if the risk of exposure is still present 28 days later.

reuters reported on wednesday that according to the world health organization, more than 6,000 monkeypox cases have been reported from 58 countries .

director general tedros adhanom ghebreyesus said a meeting will take place later in july to advise on declaring the outbreak a global health emergency, who’s highest alert level.
monkeypox typically begins with such symptoms as fever, headache, backache and fatigue, then progresses to a rash on the face and body. the public health agency of canada says the swelling or enlargement of lymph nodes that accompanies monkeypox distinguishes it from smallpox.
