windsor police arrest suspect after woman found with serious injuries

a 34-year-old man has been arrested following an assault on a windsor street that left a woman in critical condition.
city police responded to a report of an injured person n the 2700 block of pillette avenue just after 2:30 a.m. sunday.
a critically injured woman was being treated by paramedics. the 36-year-old woman was transported to hospital where she remained in critical condition as of monday.
police said their investigation determined the woman was assaulted following an argument with an intimate partner inside a vehicle.
when the woman exited the vehicle, it is alleged the man sped away, knocking her to the ground.
officers located the suspect at a residence in the 5400 block of reginald street.
the man has been charged with aggravated assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.
police said the suspect cannot be named to protect the identity of the woman.

the violence against women coordinating committee windsor-essex told council there were 2,378 intimate partner violence calls to windsor police last year. that’s more than six calls per day on average.
