the caboto club’s grape festival returns to windsor this weekend after a 23-year hiatus.

“a wave of nostalgia is set to sweep through windsor” with the festival’s return, club vice-president craig moro said in a news release.

the festival spans three days — friday through sunday — featuring an array of food, musical performances, vendors and, naturally, local wines.

and, of course, visitors can also expect traditional popular activities such as grape stomping and spaghetti-eating contests.

the festival gets underway friday night to those who are at least 19 years old, with live music from 6 p.m. to midnight. the band nemesis and and dj rye will provide the entertainment and there will be spaghetti-eating and grape-stomping contests. both contests run saturday as well.

saturday features strolling musicians amici, dj rye and big louis and the band in the evening.

sunday will be a family-oriented day starting at noon, with various attractions such as strolling musicians and face-painting.

the caboto club celebrates its 100th year in 2025, so the timing seemed ideal to reintroduce the grape festival, moro said.

“we wanted to bring back this iconic festival to at least get our feet wet, get comfortable again before we have an even bigger and better grape festival next year as part of our 100 th anniversary celebrations throughout the year.”

the grape festival got so big and was so popular it became “a little bit overwhelming for us,” moro said in explaining its lengthy absence.

“any boomers and gen xers in windsor will remember the grape festival. they’ll definitely have memories. it was a huge festival for many years.“
