kfc canada wants you to listen to the lid of its iconic bucket this holiday season. the famed fried chicken restaurant is offering a limited-edition bucket lid that doubles as a vinyl record with four classic holiday instrumentals — we wish you a merry christmas, jingle bells, deck the halls, and the twelve days of christmas — alongside the sounds of chicken frying, finger licking, paper wrapping and 11 herbs and spices, depending on the tune.
between dec. 9 and 16, fans of the fried chicken will have a chance to receive a copy of this festive collectable through a random draw. people interested can comment on the kentucky fried carols post at kfc canada’s instagram account and tagging a friend.
“you’ll be surprised how soothing the sound of chicken frying is when layered into a classic holiday carol,” says dhaval bhatt, co-founder and chief creative officer of toronto’s courage inc., who produced the kentucky fried carols record.
“this is an ultra limited edition which is sure to become a collectible.”
kfc canada’s marketing manager jordan sequeira said in a statement that it’s been 55 years since the company released a christmas album with rca records.
“in a digital age, people gravitate to all things analog,” sequeira said. “the nostalgia takes you back to what’s important for the holidays — coming together with family. and what better way than with good food and classic music. a kfc bucket with a lid that’s a record was an obvious answer.”
