a calgary man is facing 70 charges in connection to 25 bank machine thefts in southern alberta.
the southern alberta district crime reduction unit says the 30-year-old drove an electric scooter to all locations, then used an angle grinder or concrete saw to gain access to the atm. it is estimated he stole more than $15,000 total in break-and-enters in calgary, lethbridge and several rural communities, including raymond, coaldale, vulcan, strathmore and diamond valley.
the suspect was arrested on july 14 when he was caught breaking into a calgary business on 16 avenue n.w.
david letourneau-janveaux faces dozens of charges, including relating to possession of a prohibited weapon., break-and-enter to commit theft, break-and-enter to commit mischief, mischief over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.
he was remanded into custody and his next court appearance is in alberta court of justice in calgary on aug. 16.
