here’s your chance to be part of history — with #mypandemicstory.
the royal ontario museum (rom) wants to hear from children and young adults across canada about their experience of covid-19.
kids, ages four to 18, are invited to submit their impressions of covid-19 through art — poems, pictures, videos, sculptures or other forms of self-expression —  for the chance to be displayed at the rom.
the museum is capturing history as it happens. submitted artwork will be part of an archive of present-day artifacts to be used in an upcoming crowd-sourced exhibit that will open this fall.
submissions for this exhibition, which will reflect how covid-19 looks to the youth of canada, will be accepted until june 27.
archaeologist justin jennings, curator of the #mypandemicstory-themed exhibition, said the rom has already received hundreds of submissions from a wide variety of young people.
“the pandemic is a pivotal moment in all our lifetimes,” said jennings.
“we want to be front and centre both in documenting it and, hopefully, in helping our community move past it and move forward together. art helps us cope with the biggest challenges.”
the exhibit will let children see their own experiences of covid within the bigger picture of the pandemic.

“the great power of doing this at a museum is that it’s multi-generational,” said jennings.
“hopefully, you have grandparents there with their children and grandchildren, experiencing this and talking to one another about it.”
submit your art for the exhibit on social media; use the hashtag #mypandemicstory and tag @romtoronto. or upload through the rom website,
