the collège des médecins has issued an alert informing its members that “a young woman who was not a doctor and had no relevant medical training managed to confuse medical staff in a hospital setting and in a clinic.”
according to the statement, annie ung claimed she was a resident in general medicine at a montreal-area hospital. she also claimed to be a manager in medical clinics, the statement said. the professional order is asking its members to report anything about ung to an investigator assigned to the case.
“by claiming to be a doctor, she also succeeded in twice completing internships in medical clinics and appearing in a hospital setting with a medical uniform, i.e. a white lab coat and a stethoscope, and carrying out consultations,” the collège des médecins said in the statement. it also wrote that it is “taking all measures to prevent ms. ung from using the title of doctor or pretending to be.
“a lawsuit for the illegal practice of medicine has been filed against ms. ung and we ask you to be vigilant to prevent any act of usurpation on her part.”
