ko understands the limitations of current available treatments for psychiatric disorders on a personal level. following a traumatic medical experience, his brother became reclusive and turned to substance abuse to cope.
“what started out as a method of self-medicating led to my brother going from a casual drug user to becoming heavily addicted,” he recalls.
in the final three years of his life, ko took charge of his brother’s care, helping him to access psychotherapy and a range of drug treatments. however, his brother fatally overdosed in 2019.
examining research literature, ko discovered that, for many patients with drug addiction, long-term outcomes were not encouraging. entheon was founded soon after.
“it became the charge of entheon to develop interventions that could achieve massive and lasting transformations and then develop optimal and effective ways to deliver care,” he says.
entheon’s approach to treatment would involve the addition of psychotherapy, a strictly prescribed clinical environment and other factors validated and verified through rigorous research.
“we are determined to produce consistent clinical data that demonstrates efficacy in such a clear and understandable way that regulators can accurately evaluate them as safe and effective,” says ko.
