nfl picks: can l.a. chargers hand k.c. chiefs second loss?

the lines are from covers.com and the home teams are in caps.

green bay +3.5 over detroit

you can’t help but hope these two teams meet again in the playoffs. however, the lions defence is hurting and looked to have lost brian branch now, too.

minnesota -5.5 over atlanta

kirk cousins just doesn’t seem like a person capable of a revenge game. he looked awful last week, had no mobility or zip on his passes and now faces one of the league’s best defences. the falcons can’t pressure opposing qbs, which should allow sam darnold plenty of time to shred them.

new york giants +5 over new orleans

the extra rest will help the giants, as will the extra prep time for drew lock. the saints aren’t good enough to back outside on the road by more than a field goal.

jacksonville +3.5 over tennessee

the jags season has been cursed and has only gotten worse after trevor lawrence’s concussion last week. but should they be getting a field goal against a titans team that can’t stop turning over the ball and allowing scores?

tampa bay -6.5 over las vegas

it has gotten to the point where you’d be very surprised if antonio pierce is still employed when the season ends. the raiders fell short in their so-called super bowl on black friday and have little to play for.

pittsburgh -6.5 over cleveland

there’s no snow in the forecast for sunday so the steelers should be thrilled about that. they’ll get some revenge after cleveland took that game in that thursday night blizzard two thursdays ago.

philadelphia -12.5 over carolina

the panthers have been surprisingly frisky over the past few weeks and bryce young might actually have gotten things together. however, this looks destined to be one of those games where the eagles literally run up the score.

new york jets +6.5 over miami

the public is finally off the jets, with almost two thirds of bettors picking the dolphins here. that’s pretty much the only reason we’ll zag on this pick.

arizona -2.5 over seattle

i’ve flipped on this pick about five times now and have finally settled on the cards getting their revenge. both sides have a great angle, but this feels like it should be season-series split.

buffalo -4.5 over l.a. rams

the rams have a big division matchup against the 49ers on tap for thursday to look ahead to while the bills are only getting healthier down the stretch with matt milano returning last week.

chicago +3.5 over san francisco

the bears should get the usual new coach boost while the 49ers are just way too banged up. of course, it would only make sense for the 49ers to turn it on after we jump off their bandwagon…

l.a. chargers +4 over kansas city*

these chiefs have to be the least-impressive 11-1 team we’ve seen. even if they can win this tough division rivalry game, there’s just so little confidence here that it’ll be by more than a field goal.

cincinnati -5.5 over dallas

the cowboys have been just awful at home for more than a year now and, as this line suggests, the bengals are much better than their 4-8 record. cincy should win a high-scoring affair.

last week: 10-6

this season: 98-95-2
