“far too many health care workers remain unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, posing a significant and ongoing patient safety risk that threatens the potential introduction of covid-19 within hospital settings and … transmission between and/or among patients and staff,” the ontario hospital association replied, urging ford to mandate vaccination for all hospital employees.
data from public health ontario demonstrate that a “substantial” number of covid-19 cases originate in hospitals, the province’s science table responded to ford.
“to be clear,” the three hospitals here replied in a joint letter, “we strongly support the oha recommendation ‘for a single provincial policy that drives all hospitals together to full vaccination of the workforce.’”
about 85 percent of hospital staff here were vaccinated before it became mandatory. now, about 99 percent are vaccinated.
“evidence has clearly shown (that) being definitive results in vaccination rates going up,” musyj said.
“it was the right decision to protect our patients, colleagues, and community whom we are obligated to ensure receive safe, quality care while we do everything we can to reduce the potential risk of covid-19 amid the delivery of vital health care services,” the local hospitals wrote the premier.
the only good thing about the mess of grievances, appeals and now a court case is it could finally prompt the government to lead on this.
“it will make all ontario’s hospitals safer for patients and health-care workers and reduce the risk that the covid-19 pandemic is prolonged any further,” the oha concluded.
those are the experts speaking, and it doesn’t get much clearer than that.
