toxi-city an in-depth dive into alberta’s deadly drug poisoning crisis was a rewarding experience to be a part of.
the three-part series included compelling photo and video elements that allowed our news team to paint a vivid picture of the crisis happening in edmonton.
i had the opportunity to edit three videos for the project telling stories that allowed viewers to feel the heartbreak of a parent when they lose a child or experience their frustration with a system that they feel isn’t doing enough and making it difficult to get the help that is needed. viewers walked alongside during the adrenaline-filled moments when dedicated volunteers came across a person on the streets of edmonton experiencing a drug poisoning.
seeing these moments play out on screen was emotional for me. i won’t soon forget the stories of the families who were brave enough to open up and trusted our team to tell their stories of loss or the people that dedicate their time to helping people in desperate need.
